The 2022-2023 concert season will open on 2:30pm, Sunday, November 6th, 2022, with Space Jam! featuring OES artistic director Dr. Beau Benson conducting John Williams' "Star Wars Suite" featuring iconic music from the beloved film series. To complement Star Wars, OES will perform Gustav Holst's tone poem "The Planets" which provided a major source of inspiration for Williams's score for Star Wars. Also on the program is American composer Adolphus Hailstork's fanfare, "Intrada".

Holiday Music Festival

2:30pm, Sunday, December 11th, 2022 | Vert Auditorium (480 SW Dorion Ave, Pendleton, OR)

The annual Holiday Music Festival will take place at 2:30pm, Sunday, December 11th, 2022. An ecumenical celebration of the holidays through song, the Holiday Music Festival features a variety of community music ensembles in addition to the Oregon East Symphony. This year the Symphony will perform Alan Hovhaness's Symphony No. 49 (Christmas). The Holiday Music Festival will also feature the Pendleton Brass Quintet, the Equinox Little Big Band, Our Songs Are Alive (Umatilla Indian Reservation), and Christmas carol singalongs by Adam Lange.

Some Like It Scot!

After a winter break, Dr. Benson will return to conduct Some Like It Scot! at 7:30pm, Saturday, March 11th, 2023. Mendelssohn's Third Symphony, also known as his "Scottish Symphony" for its incorporation of Scottish folk melodies, is the basis for the spring concert program. Violinist Tomás Cotik will join OES for a performance of Astor Piazzolla's "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires". Also to be performed is African-American composer Jessie Montgomery's "Strum".

Chamber Music Festival

6:30pm, Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 | Vert Clubroom (345 SW 4th St, Pendleton, OR)

At 6:30pm on Saturday, April 22rd, 2023, the Symphony will present its annual Chamber Music Festival in the Vert Clubroom (located in the basement of the Vert Auditorium). The Chamber Music Festival features a variety of small ensembles performing chamber works with a generous spread of hors d’oeuvres and beverages provided by the Oregon East Symphony’s volunteer Board of Directors.

R. Strauss - Ein HeldenlebenQuinn Mason - Immerse

The Oregon East Symphony's 2022-2023 Concert Season will conclude at 7:30pm on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, with Dr. Benson conducting Richard Strauss's massive tone poem "Ein Heldenleben", which chronicles a hero's struggle between the individual and his outer and inner worlds, and the profundity of domestic love. Also to be performed is American composer Quinn Mason's "Inspiration! - Festive Overture", a piece that is dedicated to the power of inspiration, and the will to inspire.
