The 2022-2023 concert season will open on 2:30pm, Sunday, November 6th, 2022, with Space Jam! featuring OES artistic director Dr. Beau Benson conducting John Williams' "Star Wars Suite" featuring iconic music from the beloved film series. To complement Star Wars, OES will perform Gustav Holst's tone poem "The Planets" which provided a major source of inspiration for Williams's score for Star Wars. Also on the program is American composer Adolphus Hailstork's fanfare, "Intrada".

Some Like It Scot!

After a winter break, Dr. Benson will return to conduct Some Like It Scot! at 7:30pm, Saturday, March 11th, 2023. Mendelssohn's Third Symphony, also known as his "Scottish Symphony" for its incorporation of Scottish folk melodies, is the basis for the spring concert program. Violinist Tomás Cotik will join OES for a performance of Astor Piazzolla's "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires". Also to be performed is African-American composer Jessie Montgomery's "Strum".

The Oregon East Symphony's 2022-2023 Concert Season will conclude at 7:30pm on Saturday, June 10th, 2023, with Dr. Benson conducting Richard Strauss's massive tone poem "Ein Heldenleben", which chronicles a hero's struggle between the individual and his outer and inner worlds, and the profundity of domestic love. Also to be performed is American composer Quinn Mason's "Immerse", a study in texture and the blending of timbral qualities of the different families of instruments.
