Competition Guidelines and Procedures

Registration Forms are available by emailing programs@oregoneastsymphony.org or calling (541) 276-0320.

Each participant will be given up to 12 minutes to perform. Instrumental participants should prepare a  movement of a concerto or similar concert piece. Singers should prepare an aria or similar selection. A participant may decide to audition a piece longer than 12 minutes, though he/she must choose which movement or portion to present to the adjudicators. Participants should be prepared to perform their selection by memory.

If a participant is selected to play with the Symphony or A-Sharp Players during the 2008/2009 concert season, the Music Director may limit the number of movements or total performance time to fit a specific concert program. In addition, only selections with readily available orchestral parts will be programmed for a concert performance. Participants who are selected to perform must be available for all necessary rehearsals once concert dates are established.

Participants must have a private music instructor review their audition selection and sign the registration form.

Participants are responsible to bring four copies of the music for the adjudicators during the competition. Music can be returned at the end of the audition if necessary.

Participants are responsible for arranging and compensating their own accompanists. The Symphony may be able to help out-of-town participants locate a local accompanist if needed. Please contact us no later than January 15th, 2008 to make arrangements.

Confirmation of entry will be emailed when registration form and payment are received. Additional information or instructions, including approximate audition time, will be emailed by Thursday, January 31st.

For a registration form or for more information, please email programs@oregoneastsymphony.org or call (541) 276-0320.
