African Drum Circle - Hands on, everybody welcome.  Play the Djembe, Djun Djun, shakers, claves and bells.  No experience necessary. Sandi Green

Funk Band - An exploration of systems of temporal structure, use of ostinato form, and harmo-melodicy cell theory in the music of classic 1970s funk composers George Clinton and James Brown. Culminating in a final performance integrating historical performance practice in a post- modern context. Open to instrumentalists by audition or invitation. Submit a letter of interest with your application. Kenneth Woods

Musical Storytelling - Could the story of Peter and the Wolf be the same without music? Learn how stories can be enhanced by exploring the music of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.  Then experiment with musical moods, emotions, and colors, use improvisation to develop character themes, and create musical notation for storytelling.  This session culminates with campers choosing a story, adding their own musical flare and performing their masterpiece for fellow campers. Kris Klavik

Composition and Film Music -  Learn to get your brilliant musical ideas down on paper! This composition course will cover the basics of theory and harmony, techniques for writing melody, and using form to shape a composition. Participants will have the opportunity to perform their compositions for fellow campers at the end of the week. The last class will also feature an exploration of "Music For Movies" on the final day. Chris Thomas

Private Violin and Viola lessons - This session will allow participants to work more intensely on technique or repertoire, but is also recommended for those who have not had previous formal music lessons. Lesson times will be assigned on the first day of camp and can be taken in conjunction with another interest session. Mary Rowell
