What is the Baroque Strings Workshop?

The Baroque Strings Workshop is an opportunity for our region’s string players to rehearse and perform baroque music in a small workshop setting.

This workshop will be facilitated by Mary Rowell who is a violin and viola teacher and longtime Oregon East Symphony musician from Portland. Mary has also been a faculty member of the Symphony’s Summer Music Camp for many years. She founded the Rose City Chamber Orchestra and has also played with several Pacific Northwest orchestras, including the Portland Baroque Orchestra and as concertmaster of the Bach Cantata Choir.

The Workshop is open to all intermediate to advanced string players. The weekend will focus on ensemble work, though there will be solo opportunities within the chosen pieces. Workshop music is available for prior study and rehearsal.
